Closure

We headed off to the scan yesterday expecting the worst, but with that tiny spark of hope that maybe, just maybe we were wrong. We weren't wrong. The scan of my uterus was markedly different than before - for starters, no baby. We managed to get out with our dignity intact though I was crying by the time we hit the carpark. Despite the sadness I also experienced a feeling of relief that it was all over and we could mourn the baby and move on. It sounds callous but I was actually terrified that there would still be a baby after all that bleeding, because it wouldn't have stayed there... and that would have been a terrifying time.
Chris thinks that a Daphne plant would be a good one to plant in remembrance so we will hit the garden centres on the weekend.

I am also sick as a dog and feeling very put out about it. It's not fair that I am sick in addition to all this other... stuff! I might take Kieran out today - perhaps to Henderson - as I want to buy him some crayons. We got him a book to colour in yesterday which he liked but the pavement chalk I found only came in pale shades - boo.

Warm and cosy

..is not how I would describe our house at the moment. Luckily I am able to snuggle into the wonderfully warm merino/possum hat that Sue got me when she came back from Oz...mmmm, so warm!! I can't wait for Joy to finish knitting my aran-y jumper - am so cold at the moment!!

I was lucky enough to have visitors yesterday - it was wonderful catching up with Rache and Kym. Being housebound is not all it is cracked up to be! I miss the library (mmm warm, mmm books!) but can't face the thought of trying to walk there, let alone in the pouring rain we have experienced over the last 2 days! Sadly, I am also back on the diet as I have a few pregnancy kg's to lose... sigh. Aaaan Chris has made me sick!!! Now I feel run down with a sore throat in addition to my other, and myriad, woes!! Bad form Chris!

On thursday we head off to our "confirmation of viability" scan. I am pretty sure that we know what will be on the screen but it will help us move forward, knowing exactly where we're at.
Kieran is such a lovely boy. He has been super cuddly today and has just been unutterably precious - why, he didn't even bodyslam the cat! Poor Bandit is now walking on tenterhooks waiting for the dread event to occur at any moment.

A brand new blog

After the death of the previous blog due to spyware I have created one from the ashes of the old, phoenix style. Hopefully this blog will neither spontaneously ignite nor be riddled with malware attacks - cross fingers.

So, to date, what has happened so far.
Well, I miscarried our baby. To be more accurate, I am in the process of miscarrying our baby - and it has been devastating.
Chris and I are gutted. Chris particularly feels the loss of our baby, and I have to deal with the physical pain of the miscarriage. It has been a sad and tear filled time for us, and one I hope never to repeat.

Kieran continues well, our little angel baby just gets more lovable and talented as the days go by. He has now learned to turn around and whirls in circles, clapping his hands. He is such a happy loving boy that it is a delight to parent him.
We have got through the change in milk provision and had our first uninterrupted night last night - it was bliss!! K awoke at 5 and I sneaked a bottle into the cot for him to "find". Good times.
